This is the book that inspired this post to be written....
I saw it on my nightstand and thought to myself,
The has to be the best title I have seen in a while.

My family laughs at me and the types of books that I buy. Sometimes I buy them just because they catch my eye...either the title, or the author, or maybe the cover photo or maybe the feel of the book.
Yes, sometimes I purchase a book and call it a "feel good" book because of how cover feels. Sometimes the cover feels...thick and puffy...sometimes...slick and sleek...sometimes normal. So this causes my family to find amusement at my expense. I don't mind, they laugh at me all the time about different things. This is just one of many.
Just for fun....and to satisfy any curiosity this post may have peeked....
I have photographed several of the books I have purchased and read and listed the reason for their purchase.
All of these are really good reads for anyone who likes to read a variety of books.
This first book is one I purchased, quite a while ago. It has an interesting cover. And most definitely an intriguing title "Respectable Sins". The footnote says "Confronting the sins we Tolerate". I read the preface of this book in the bookstore and it talks about the sins that we tolerate "IN CHURCH" such as foul talking and joking, "selfishness, jealousy, gossip, and many more". Ones that as a christian we do not dare to confront ... afterall, we may hurt someones feelings....
I have to be completely honest...I have not completed this one yet. Started it a couple of times and...put it down...it is a very deep book...I would pick up something a little more "uplifitng and encouraging" but one day I will finish it...and probably post a blog about it. Keep your eyes open.
This second book is and autobiography. At one point I was listening to a lot of Saddi Patti's music. Not only does she have an angelic voice but she is very beautiful also. So, when I was in the bookstore and I saw this book about her and her life. I felt impressed to purchase it. It is a very compelling story about how she got to where she is today. If you like autobiographies I recommend this one.
And the third book, ok before you completely lose it and condemn me.... let me say this is a very interesting and informative book. This book of course was purchased for the Title and Cover Photo. The author Liz Curtis Higgs takes the scriptures about many different women of the bible and she contrast each of them to actual stories of TODAY. She compares their lives to lives of people she knows or knows of. Some of the stories are based on actual true people and events and others are based on a comparison of what would happen in a similar circumstance today.
Not only is the photo on the cover intriguing but the footnote says "and what we can learn from them." Hmmmm....we can actually learn something from those ladies....MOST DEFINITELY.
Ok...I confess...the first story I read in this book was about Jezabel... I was curious to what we could learn from her.... we I think there is a future blog post...about this one coming.
------
Enjoy!!!
