Irish Proverb

"May there always be work for your hands to do,
may your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane,
may a rainbow be certain to follow each rain.
May the hand of a friend always be near you,
may God fill your heart with gladness to cheer you."

Perfume Friendships

Just like perfume comes in different types of bottles ALL different shapes and sizes...
So do friendships.
The heartfelt counsel of a friend is sweet as perfume and incense. Proverbs 27:9 (NLT)

Friends, they come in all shapes and sizes. Some have big hearts. A few deliver the sunshine of laughter. One may offer a shoulder for you to cry on. One may listen while you whine, while another may speak the truth even when it hurts. One girlfriend may bring food when you are sick, still another may offer a prayer of healing.

Friends will compliment you, encourage you, hug you, watch your kids, and send you cards. Some friends may only call once a year just to catch up on life. Whatever type of friends filter through your life, true healthy friendships are a gift from God.

We learn the importance of friendships at an early age. Throughout our lives we long for friendships. Friends enrich our lives. They walk with us through the valleys of despair and rejoice with us on the mountaintops. Friends "do" life with us.

Which of your friends has been with you through thick and thin? Which friend holds you accountable? Which friend encourages you? Which one make you laugh?

Of course, in order to have good friends means we must be a good friend to others. Certain qualitites promote deep and lasting friendships. Honesty and loyalty are the foundation for friendships that can last a lifetime. Patience, kindness and a sense of humor are essential in developing and maintaining an enduring friendship.

Friendship is one of the true riches we can have in this life.

I thank God for all of my friends.

Dear God, Thank you for giving me a variety of friendships to help me walk the road of life. I am especially grateful for the friends who inspire and encourage me. Lord, teach me how to be a better friend. In your name, I pray. Amen!!

Friends-National Girlfriend's Day

This was hilarious....but too true...

Had to forward it....

National Girlfriend and Sister's Week

I am only as strong as the coffee I drink,
the hairspray I use
and the friends I have.
To the cool women who have touched my life.
Here's to you!
National Girlfriends Day

It is good to be a woman:

1. We got off the Titanic first.

2. We can scare male bosses with the mysterious gynecological disorder excuses.

3. Taxis stop for us.

4. We don't look like a frog in a blender when dancing.

5. No fashion faux pas we make, could ever rival the Speedo.

6. We don't have to pass gas to amuse ourselves.

7. If we forget to shave, no one has to know.

8. We can congratulate our teammate without ever touching her rear end.

9. We never have to reach down every so often to make sure our privates are still there.

10. We have the ability to dress ourselves.

11. We can talk to the opposite sex without having to picture them naked.

12. If we marry someone 20 years younger, we are aware that we will look like an idiot.

13. We will never regret piercing our ears.

14. There are times when chocolate really can solve all your problems.

15. We can make comments about how silly men are in their pres ence because they aren't listening anyway.

Send this to all the bright women you know and make their day!!!!!

Love ya! Mean it!

Friends in My Circle

GIRLS IN MY CIRCLE

When I was little, I used to believe in the concept of one best friend,And then I started to become a woman..And then I found out that if you allow your heart to open up,God would show you the best in many friends.

One friend is needed when you're going through things with your man.

Another friend is needed when you're going through things with your mom.

Another will sit beside you in the bleachers as you delight in your children and their activities.

Another when you want to shop, share, heal, hurt, joke, or just be.

One friend will say, 'Let's cry together,'Another , 'Let's fight together,' Another , 'Let's walk away together.'

One friend will meet your spiritual need,

Another your shoe fetish,
Another your love for movies,

Another will be with you in your season of confusion,
Another will be your clarifier,

Another the wind beneath your wings.

But whatever their assignment in your life,

On whatever the occasion,On whatever the day, Or wherever you need them to meet you with their gym shoes on and hair pulled back, Or to hold you back from making a complete fool of yourself Those are your best friends.

It may all be wrapped up in one woman,

But for many, it's wrapped up in several..

One from 7th grade,One from high school, Several from the college years, A couple from old jobs,On some days your mother, On some days your neighbor,On others, your sisters,And on some days, your daughters.

So whether they've been a friend for 20 minutes or 20+ years,

Pass this on to the women that God has placed in your lifeTo make a difference. Including the one who sent it to you.

Thanks for being in my circle.

Beautiful Christian Sister

Happy Summer!

BEAUTIFUL CHRISTIAN SISTER
By Maya Angelou

'A woman's heart should be so hidden in Christ
That a man should have to seek Him first to find her.'
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not shouting 'I'm clean living,
' I'm whispering 'I was lost, Now I'm found and forgiven.
' When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I don't speak of this with pride.
I'm confessing that I stumble and need Christ to be my guide.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not trying to be strong.
I'm professing that I'm weak and need His strength to carry on.
When I say.. 'I am a Christian'
I'm not bragging of success.
I'm admitting I have failed and need God to clean my mess.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I am worth it.
When I say.... 'I am a Christian'
I still feel the sting of pain... I have my share of heartaches, so I call upon His name.
When I say... 'I am a Christian'
I'm not holier than thou, I'm just a simple sinner Who received God's good grace, somehow! Pretty is as Pretty does...
But beautiful is just plain beautiful!

Thankful Thursday

This evening as I sit here, reflecting on the last few weeks, I find myself being very thankful for many things in my life. Which I will list a few at the end of this post.
I would like to share something with all of my blogging friends.
For the past few weeks I have been going out of town to visit my family in Panama City. My step-dad (more like my second dad) has been battling Parkinsen's (not sure of the spelling) for the last year or so. My mom has been taking care of him.
About four weeks ago, he went into the hospital for pneumonia, and things started going downhill from there. He continued to get worse...his health, his weight and his memory deteriorated rapidly. My mom and sister were by his side constantly. I was there on the weekends and as much as I could, being that I live out of town. Mr Earl, is his name and he passed away last Sunday in the early hours. I spent all of last week with my mom and family. It was a very difficult and sad time for all of us. Please pray for my mom as she adjust to her new environment. She has a hard few weeks, months ahead. She is so use to caring for someone and now she doesn't know what to do with herself. She is a wonderful, loving, caring person.
Thank you all for the notes of encouragement, sympathy cards, emails, phone calls, etc. It is a times like these that we see who our friends really are.
If any of you have been through something similar to this and have some advise for me to give my mom, I would greatly appreciate it.
God has been soooo Good to me.
I am thankful for:
My wonderful husband, who loves me unconditionally.
My two beautiful daughters and my two sons-in law.
My mom, sister, brothers, brother-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces and nephew.
My friends.
My job.

Friends

Wednesday MySpace Comments and Graphics Friends are important. They share our thoughts, hearts and lives.

True friends are angels in disguise. Sent from heaven above to help us through life.

Last week I was blessed beyond measure when I received a friendship note from a dear friend of mine. The encouragement could not have come at a better time. The note was short and sweet but just exactly 'what' I needed 'when' I needed it. Isn't that just like God! He knows the desires of our heart and knows just what we need.

So, when you feel prompted by 'your inner voice' to do something nice for someone...Go Ahead! You never know...it could be the diference maker. The smallest of gestures have the largest impact. You could change someone's whole day and outlook just by sending a note or making a phone call.

Friendship

Beauty Quote of the Day "Be careful the environment you choose for it will shape you; be careful the friends you choose for you will become like them." William Stone

At the bottom of my web page I have the "Beauty Quote of the Day" gadget. The above is the quote from today. I wanted to use it as my blog post today so that Icould continue to view it even after today.

It is sooooo true... the friends we hang out with typically contibute to molding our personality and character.

So always be aware of what you are "taking into a relationship" and what you are "taking from that relationship."

Take time to culitvate your friendships and relationships in a positive manner. Always try and be encouraging and uplifint, that way the people that choose to spend time with you will always do it because they want to not just because they feel obligated to.

Friends

Here is my acrostic for: What is a friend?

Faithful-stick with you 'til the end--no matter what.
Real-share their real feelings, hurts, struggles, blessings.
Individual-unique, each one is "one of a kind".
Envious-never...friends are not envious of each other.
Nice-friends are nice to each other.
Delightful-fun to be around and spend time with.
Special-people that God gives to us--to share our hearts ad lives with.

Post me a comment with what your acrostic for friend would be....

Enjoy!

Friendship

This weekend I spent all day Saturday with my younger sister. Planning her upcoming wedding. My sister and I are very close. Opposites but close. She is a very free-spirited personality. I am an A-type personality. She says I help her keep things in perspective. She and I are really good friends.
After spending the day with her, on my drive home (about 2 hours in the car), I was pondering the friendships that I have shared so far in my lifetime. Many have come and gone, some are still friends, some just acquaintances, few are close friends. Life seems to keep changing. Our lives intertwine with different people at different times. Some friendships last for a short time and some last forever. My sister is one of the constants in my life. She and I are always there for each other.
Take time to let your friends know that you appreciate them. Spend time with them. Do not take them for granted. Never be too busy to make new friends and nurture the friendships. Otherwise you end up sad and lonely. Families are great but so are friends! They help get us through life.
