A Father's Day Tribute

Today is Fathers Day. I want to wish all those wonderful guys out there A Happy Day!!!
Enjoy your families today and let them spoil you. You deserve it!
So many of you give so much all year long to your children and to your wives.
I know that my hubby does.
I have been married to my wonderful "Knight in Shining Armor" for 27 years now and he is "The
B-E-S-T-E-S-T" dad in the world. We have two grown girls that are married now. But he continues to give to them and loves them unconditionally.
God had blessed me with this wonderful man. I do not take him for granted. I am thankful for him everyday.
Honey, I love you and appreciate everything you do for your family. I know the girls love and appreciate you too.
Thank you so much for taking care of me and giving to me all these years.
Especially the last several months..thanks for being there and for doing all that you have done.
I LOVE YOU!!!!!

Memories

Today as I read a post of a fellow blogger I was reminded of some of my "bestest" childhood memories.

The blogger is Judy over at "just a little something for you.blogspot.com".

Her blog was mostly about tomato soup and grilled cheese sandwiches (which I love, by the way).

But the photo was of a wood stove...it looked something like this one above... The picture wis what triggered the memory for me. (Thanks Judy)

********************************

The post reminded me of when I was little girl. After school I would go to my great-grandmother's house and I would sit with her by her wood stove.
When it was cold, you would always find her there.
Sitting with her apron on, stoking the fire. She and I would sit
for hours and she would talk about "the old days" and family and
she would share so many memories.

Her wood stove look more like this one.

She was a great woman. And these were great memories. :)

Vacation with the Hubby.

A couple of weekends ago my wonderful husband whisked me away for a weekend get away
We went to Hilton Head, SC. And to Savannah, GA
We have never actually been to Hilton Head before so it was exciting.
I had heard how beautiful the island was and YES it exceeded all my expectations and more.
The resort we stayed at was beautiful and right on the beach.
The pictures in this blog are from the place we stayed.
The grounds were absolutely beautiful.

My Sister

My sister is a very special person to me. I love her more than words can say. Since this is a New Year I wanted to dedicate this post to her. I grouped a few photos of her together. I think she is beautiful, strong, caring, loving and so much more. She is an inspiration to me. She has been through a lot over the past few years and my hat is off to her. She has more strength than anyone I know.

Sis, I want you to know that I love you more than I could ever say.

I am missing you BUNCHES today.

Love You Lots.
Me!!

Love and "Your Marriage"

The following is a few interesting statements on marriage that I found while searching on the internet.

Wholesome thoughts that will help to enrich our marriages if we will apply them.

Glitter Symbols - ImageChef.com
Agree to disagree.
Never, ever mention the "D" word (divorce).
Do you want to be right or do you want to be married?
Respect each other's privacy.
Marriage is not 50/50, it's two people giving 100/100 all of the time.
Surprise each other now and then.
The secret to a happy marriage is two TV's!
Have date night!
Never pass up an opportunity to say "I love you".
Hold hands.
Hug & kiss every day (several times a day actually!).
Always believe that you got better than you deserved.

(I definitely GOT better than I deserved)
Be quick to say "I'm sorry".
Choose the one you love, then love the one you choose.
Love isn't always a feeling, it's a decision.
Hang in there. It's worth it.
Play nice, play often, love much.
Never air your dirty laundry as a couple in public.
Never keep secrets from each other.
Don't make love in the same place/position everytime. Variety is the spice of life! Communication is the key!
Always respect each other.
Never be afraid to laugh at yourself.
It's the little things that matter most.
Never use the words 'Always' and 'Never' in a fight.
It's ok to argue, but never use curse words to express your anger.
Never compare your marriage to others. What you see on the outside is not always what it is on the inside.

I underlined some of my favorites.

Enjoy!

LOVE AND ROMANCE

What do these words mean?
They mean different things to different people. Especially when it comes to men and women.
Women like romantic things: such as flowers, candles, a night out, walks in the moonlight, bubble baths, cuddling, walks on the beach, just being together, things like that.
Men on the other hand ultimately like the romanic things that lead to the sex. Admittedly, this activity can be fun for the both.

Remember your Valentine on this coming Saturday, Valentine's Day! Whether your Valentine is your wife, husband, significant other, or one of your children (for you singles out there).
Go all out, do something special for them something unforgetable. Be creative, inventive, do something you've never done before.

Not A Good Patient

On an earlier post it stated that February was the month of Love.

I like to think of February as being the month that I can "go over and above", "over the top", "be better than ever". When it comes to showing my husband how much he means to me. He is wonderful! God's perfect (close to perfect) gift to me.

So far this month, I haven't done so well.

This past week he has been having to take care of me. I am hardly ever sickly but for the past week I have been extremely under the weather! I am finally on the up-swing. He says I am not a good patient, that I don't follow orders.

Well...I told him I am a first-born, stubborn, set in my ways, can take care of myself person. Then, I thought to myself, "what in the world am I doing", I should be taking advantage of the situation (or as my mom said...milk it for all it worth) let someone else do all the work and let them take care of me. I told her that I would try (we are alwsys suppose to do what our mother says, right?) But she knows better! She knows I am just like her.

Secretly, I know that everything will still be there waiting for when I feel like taking care of it...the house, the laundry, the dinner, etc.

The Month of Love

WoW! It's February already! "The Month of Love".
Love! Love! Love! A whole month dedicated to love...and the ones we love.
Galatians 5: 22 & 23 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.
Here's a little different take on the fruit of the spirit. (from love's perspective)
Joy - love smiling
Peace - love resting
Patience - love waiting
Kindness - love showing itself sensitive to others' feelings
Goodness - love making allowances
Faithfulness - love proving constant
Gentleness - love yielding
Self-control - love triumphing over selfish inclinations --Source Unknown

p.s. always make sure that to take the time to tell the ones closest to you that you love them...LOVE THE ONE IN YOUR LIFE EVERY DAY LIKES IT IS YOUR LAST DAY TOGETHER...you never know!!!
